Wellness

Slow down. Breathe in Sri Lanka.

Ayurveda passed down through generations, sunrise yoga beside the Indian Ocean and quiet days in the hills. Wellness here isn't a spa menu, it's a way of life.

Rest & restore

An island made for slowing down

Ayurveda has been practised in Sri Lanka for centuries, and herbal remedies are still part of everyday life. Add warm seas, cool tea country and a gentle pace, and it's one of the easiest places in Asia to truly rest.

Yoga by the ocean

Start the day with a sunrise class in an open-sided shala, the sound of the waves in place of music. Beach towns on the south coast have relaxed drop-in classes and small, intimate retreats for every level.

Planning a wellness trip

01

Choose the depth

A few treatments woven into a touring trip, or a dedicated retreat of a week or more. Both work beautifully.

02

Mind the seasons

The south and west coasts are calmest roughly November to April; the east coast suits roughly May to October.

03

Go authentic

Look for centres with qualified Ayurvedic doctors. We only suggest places we'd send our own families.

04

Share your needs

Tell practitioners about any health conditions. Ayurveda complements, but doesn't replace, medical care.
