Galle

Galle Fort is one of the best-preserved colonial sea forts in Asia, built by the Portuguese and expanded by the Dutch in the 17th century. Inside its ramparts, narrow streets lined with boutique shops, cafes and old townhouses lead down to a lighthouse and ocean views. Most visitors combine a half-day or full day in the fort with time on the nearby beaches.
